Percival Mew Gull

About 10 years ago a friend in the USA asked if I was interested in helping to build a replica of the mew Gull racing aeroplane from the 1930's, which of course I was interested in. We managed to get hold of some drawings done when the only original one left G-AEXF was rebuilt and I started on the fuselage. Progress was quick at first but then slowed down due to lack of funds but the fuselage was done along with the tailplane, elevators and rudder.

For more information on G-AEXF please go to www.air-racing-history.com which is a site all about air racing and follow the links to the racing aeroplanes.

The photograph shows the stage it was at taken in 2007 when my friend decided he had to sell it which was a great shame. Fortunately it has been bought by someone here in the UK and work is now ongoing to complete it with the aim of getting it flying within a couple of years. Sadly i have not been commissioned to do the finishing work apart from making a few of the metal fittings in the wings.

I wish the new owner success with the project and i will post any pictures he has promised me when I get them.
